Privacy policy

Last updated: November 5, 2026

The short version. We collect what it takes to run your garden planner, and nothing more. No ads, no analytics, no tracking pixels, and we never sell your data.

Who we are

I Garden Good (igardengood.com) is operated by Stefan Reiter, Montrose, Colorado, USA. Questions about this policy or your data: hello@igardengood.com.

What we collect

Your account. Your email address and password. Passwords are stored hashed by our database provider, so nobody can read them, including us. We confirm your email address when you sign up.

Your garden. What you enter: gardens (name, ZIP code, the hardiness zone and frost dates we look up from it, and any frost dates you change), beds (name, size, sun and bed type), the plants in My plants, plantings with their status and dates, and notes, tasks and harvests. Your garden data is private to your account; the database itself blocks other accounts from reading it.

Error reports. When something breaks, we send a technical error report to Sentry, our error-monitoring provider, so we can fix it. A report includes the error message and where in our code it happened, the page address (without anything after a "?"), your browser and operating system type, and a short trail of up to 30 recent steps: pages visited, what kind of element was tapped, and the address, method and status of requests the app made. We don't send what you type on purpose, and we scrub error messages before they leave, but we can't promise that a stray word never slips into an error message. We remove email addresses, account ids, cookies and login tokens before a report is sent, we send reports through our own server so your IP address doesn't reach Sentry, and Sentry is set not to store IP addresses. We don't record sessions, and nothing is sent unless an error occurs.

Hosting. Our host, Vercel, handles every request to the site. Like any web host, its platform may log your IP address and request details for a short time.

What we don't collect

No analytics, no advertising, no tracking pixels and no third-party scripts. We don't sell or rent your data, and we don't use it for advertising.

Cookies

We use two kinds of cookies, both needed for the app to work:

  • a login session cookie from our database provider (Supabase), which keeps you signed in;
  • an active-garden cookie, which remembers which garden you last picked on this device (kept for up to a year).

No other cookies, and no tracking cookies.

How we use your data

  • To run the app: show your gardens, beds, calendar and journal.
  • To send account emails: sign-up confirmation and password reset. No newsletters or marketing.
  • To find and fix errors.

Who we share it with

Only the companies that run parts of the service for us:

  • Supabase: database and login. In the US.
  • Vercel: hosting. Our servers are in the US; pages are delivered through a worldwide network.
  • Resend: sends confirmation and password-reset emails. In the US.
  • Sentry: error reports, as described above. In the US.

We'll also disclose information if the law requires it.

How long we keep it

  • Account and garden data: until you delete your account.
  • After deletion: your account and all its gardens, beds, plantings, notes, tasks and harvests are removed from our database. Copies can remain in database backups for up to 7 days.
  • Account emails: Resend keeps sent emails and their logs for about 30 days, plus up to 7 days in its backups.
  • Error reports: Sentry keeps them for 30 days.

Your choices

  • See or get a copy of your data: most of it is in the app. For a full copy, email hello@igardengood.com from the address on your account.
  • Fix your data: change it in the app, or email us for anything you can't change there.
  • Delete your account: email hello@igardengood.com from the address on your account. We only delete an account on a request from that address. Deleting it removes all its gardens with it, and we'll reply once it's done.

Children

I Garden Good is for people 13 and older. If we learn that someone under 13 has made an account, we'll delete it.

Security

Your garden data is walled off per account, passwords are hashed, and the site runs over HTTPS. No system is perfect, but we keep collection small so there's less to protect.

Changes

If we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top. For big changes, we'll email account holders before they take effect.
